Final Observation Complete! Woohhoo!!

Wednesday, September 26- Today, we had a substitute teacher, but nothing really changed because I am teaching the whole day anyway. The sub had a nice, easy day! I was a little jealous!
Anyways, Wednesday's outfit was pretty simple. I wanted to wear it before it definitely got cool and I wouldn't be able to wear it! I wore a bright purple tank dress that I got from Old Navy's clearance rack. I paired it with a pink tank top, a purple necklace, a denim jacket, and bronze sandals. I thought it was a really good outfit to transition from Summer to Fall!

Thursday, September 27th- Today was the day of my 2nd AND 3rd observations from my MTSU supervisor! She did it that way because she has to travel 70 miles one way to see me and thought she would save herself, and MTSU, some money. It was a little extra stress on me, but I am happy to have all three of my observations out of the way! I can breathe a little easier!

Today's outfit was simple and professional. I wore khaki chino pants from Old Navy with a navy blouse with gold dot accents from JCPenney. I wore gold sandals with it, too. I thought it was a nice outfit and I was pretty comfortable all day long!

I think that is all for today!

Until next time readers,

:)

So, here I am again...uploading 5 outfits in one day because I have really become busy in my student teaching experience! I am really enjoying doing this though and I am very proud of myself for keeping it up, because honestly, I didn't think I would. Anyways...let's get on with the outfits!

Wednesday, September 19th- Today was  my birthday!!! My cooperating teacher played a trick on me. Just when I thought she had forgotten my birthday, she asked me to run a few errands around the school. I returned to a dark classroom in which my students were hiding in the classroom with homemade cards. It really made for a great day!
I wore wide leg khaki pants with a sheer pink printed top from Target. I paired it with a tan skinny belt and some cream sandals. I think it was a good birthday outfit!

Thursday, September 20th- Since the SAT 10 testing was still going on, I decided to take advantage of the casual week we had been rewarded. I didn't do much at school today because I am not allowed to touch any part of the test. I decided to bring my Praxis study stuff with me since I took the test this past Saturday. I really got a lot of studying done, surprisingly!

While I decided to go casual, I still wanted to look a little bit professional. I paired blue jeans with a fun black and white printed top that I got from the Peeble's clearance department probably 4 or more years ago. I also wore my black t strap sandals with this. I think it was a good casual outfit!

Friday September, 21st- So, I kind of overslept this morning and raced out of the house. So I am not in love with this outfit, but I still think I looked pretty professional and I didn't repeat an outfit! I just got this shirt for $7 from JCPenney, I paired the shirt with black pants, sandals, and bracelet. So, like I said, not in love, but still a pretty good teacher outfit!

Monday, September 25th-  I really love this dress! I got it last summer from Maurice's and I just think it is really fun! I paired it with a red camisole, black cardigan, and bronze sandals.
A lot of sickness is going around our school and I felt really kind of crummy yesterday. I honestly don't remember much else from yesterday except that I made it through it!

Tuesday, September 25th- Today, like Friday, I overslept. I just could not bring myself to get out of bed this morning and I didn't until about 6:35 am. This is one of my favorite shirts and I probably would wear it about once a week under normal circumstances, so having to wear a different outfit every day has kind of made me miss it! I was happy to wear it today! Anyways, this orange and cream striped shirt is from the Gap. I paired it with a purple camisole, khaki pants, and cream sandals. I thought it was a pretty good outfit for a rushed Tuesday morning.

I had a really great day today! I am having my 2nd and 3rd observations on Thursday, so my cooperating teacher and I sat down and got everything ready for it! I am ready to have another awesome observation that finishes up my first placement's observations. I can't believe I am already in my 5th week of student teaching!

I think that is all for today! Maybe I will actually get on here and post tomorrow's outfit on time!

Thanks for reading!

Until next time readers,

:)

Playing Catch up!!

So, I have obviously fallen behind, as I am uploading 5 outfits in one post! I have been taking pictures each day, but have not found time at night to post them! So here they are! Last Wednesday, 9/12, I wore this outfit. I kind of feel like a commercial for Old Navy today! My printed skirt is from Old Navy, as well as they turquoise shirt I tucked in to it! It is a really comfortable skirt and the best part is that it has pockets! Who doesn't love pockets in skirts or dresses?! This girl sure does.
I also had my first observation from my MTSU supervisor on this day! My observation went great! She thought I was a natural in the classroom, and was clean and professional looking so I guess this outfit was a win with her, too! ;)

On Thursday, I wore a pink knee length dress from Walmart with a bright green cardigan from Target over it. Not my favorite outfit, but I didn't hate it. I was comfortable all day long and that is one of the most important things in a teacher's outfit!

I loved the outfit I wore to school on Friday! I wore a brown cotton maxi skirt with a yellow tee, denim jacket, and fun brown necklace. I thought it was a good outfit for "Casual Friday". I also tried lunch from the local minimart today because I was leaving straight from school to go to Murfreesboro and I didn't want dirty dishes in my car all weekend! Anyways, I was very impressed with it. First off, they delivered it to school free of charge, which was awesome because I couldn't leave AND they trusted me enough to pay at the end of the day. I went and paid after school and got a snack for the road. So, for $7.49, I got a fried chicken salad, a pack of crackers, and a drink! I was pretty pleased!

Yesterday's outfit was kind of thrown together at 7 am as I was trying to rush out the door, but I think it really worked well! This week, our school is having our Common Core standardized testing. To soften the blow of this, the principal has awarded everyone with a dress down week. For those of you who aren't teachers, getting a dress down or jeans day is almost like being handed a million dollars. I am not real big on dressing way down because I would LOVE to get  a job at this school, so I would love it if they remember me as always looking really professional. I did decide I was going to go a little more casual this week though.

Yesterday, I wore a knee length dark wash denim skirt from Old Navy. I paired it with a fun printed, ruffled top that I got off of the clearance rack from Peeble's and layered it with a cream sweater with gold trim to bring out the gold in the top. I think it all came together really nicely!

Finally, today's outfit! I feel like another Old Navy commercial! I wore green chino pants, a denim swiss dot button-up shirt with a fuchsia tank underneath. My favorite part of today's outfit was my shoes! I wish I had taken a picture to post because they are super cute and comfortable! To tie the whole outfit together, I wore  some floral printed flats from Rocketdog. The SAT10 testing started today, and I am not allowed to touch any part of it, so I brought my stuff to study for my Praxis test that I am taking this Saturday! So I had a productive day studying for that!

Hopefully I won't have to play catch up like this again!

Until next time readers,

:)

Another dress I forgot I had...day 17

Like yesterday, I also forgot that I owned this dress and I rediscovered it when I recently moved back home. I bought it from Ross to go to a TNDP dinner a couple of years ago and I don't think I have worn it since! It is a wide strap knee length tank dress with a royal blue band just under the bust going into a black and white rose pattern. It was a little cool today so I paired it with this black cropped sweater and black leather sandals. It was really comfortable and I think it worked well for today's outfit!

School went pretty well today, as well! I have my first observation from my supervisor from MTSU tomorrow so I spent a lot of my free time preparing for that today! I am a little nervous, but I am sure I will do fine! Now, I think I am going to head off to bed a little earlier than I have been the past few days!

Thanks for reading!

Until next time readers,

:)

Ok, so you are probably wondering...where is Friday's outfit? (Let's be real...you're probably not, I just want to think someone is reading this besides me. ) I had a rough Friday! I ended up getting sick as I was on my way to work and did not even make it to school that day! So there was no reason to post because I did not even make it! I missed my students terribly, but naturally did not want to get them sick so I just took that day to recover!

Anyways, on to today's outfit! This dress is a perfect example of the whole reason I decided to start this blog. I did not even move this dress with me to Murfreesboro. It has been sitting upstairs in my closet for two years and I rediscovered it when I was moving back in with Mommy and Daddy! I think it was a Ross find. It is a really fun and comfortable wide tanked brown and green printed dress that stops just past my knees. I paired it with cream sandals from Target and think it was another big hit!

I have spent my day and evening preparing for my 1st observation from my university supervisor who is coming on Wednesday! I am nervous, but pray I will do well!

I think that is all for today!

Until next time readers,

:)

Day 13...Bobcat Spirit Day! :)

Today was the first day since my placement began that I have not worn a dress! Let me tell you, it was pretty nice! I told y'all yesterday that my new school shirt came in just in time for Bobcat Spirit Day today, so I was really excited to wear it to school today! Apparently so was everyone else because about 3/4 of the class was wearing their's as well! It was so much fun seeing everyone proud to represent their school with their new shirts! I tried to accessorize as best as I could with it so I paired it with blue jeans and a black cami. Then I wore my black leather bracelet, black bow earrings from Forever 21, and royal blue leather flip flops from Target. I thought it  looked really cute!

Class was pretty great today, too! We are still working with subtraction and I think the kids (might) actually be enjoying it! I am enjoying each passing day at Flintville and see myself transforming in to a better teacher as each day draws to a close. I think that is all for today! Thanks for reading!

Until next time,

:)

Day 12 :)

I was torn on what I should wear today. I overslept, and of course I hadn't picked anything out last night. So  I grabbed this dress. I think it was a good choice! I was really comfortable all day long! I got this fun multi-colored dress from Ross about two years ago. I paired it with a pink camisole and a denim jacket.

I had a great day! I have taken over the last part of the day this week. That consists of: Language Arts, Math, and Science/Social Studies. The kids are finally starting to grasp subtraction, so that is really reassuring! I was in the middle of my subtraction lesson today when the Vice Principal walks in to do a surprise observation on me. I was so nervous! But I really think I held it all together and did a good job! Hopefully she was impressed with me!

Also, my new FES shirt came in today so you all can enjoy seeing that as part of my outfit tomorrow because it is....BOBCAT SPIRIT DAY!! WHOOHOO!!! :)

I think that's all for today! Thanks for reading!

Until next time,

:)

Days 10 and 11....I survived a substitute teacher after a 3 day weekend

I am so sorry! I have had a crazy busy "long" weekend so once again, I am uploading two outfits in one post! On Friday, my supervisor came to Flintville and cleared up a lot of questions I was still having! I am confident the rest of this placement will go smoothly! On Friday, I decided to try to go a little more "casual" because every Friday is "Casual Friday", but my supervisor was coming from MTSU, I also wanted to look nice for her. I think I found a happy medium for both and decided to wear a jersey knit gray and navy striped dress from Target with a deep purple camisole and my purple necklace from Ecuador. I paired all of this with a denim jacket and bronze sandals.

Two of my best friends, Jen and Val, came to visit me over this long weekend (which was so much fun and I miss them terribly! :( ...), but one of the perks of their visit was that they brought me my new teacher cardigan that I forgot at their house two weekends ago! It was like Christmas! I can make so many more "teacher appropriate" outfits now that I have my sweater back! Today I paired my camel colored sweater from Old Navy with a multi-colored knee length dress from Target. I belted it with a thin brown braided belt and paired it all with bronze sandals. It was a really comfortable outfit and I think it was a big hit! Best part of this outfit.....my nails match! I just painted my nails a robin's egg blue color as one last nod to Summer before moving into the warmer Fall colors I like to paint my nails during my favorite season!

Today went pretty smoothly even though we were coming off of a three day weekend and we had a sub today! This week, I have started taking over the entire afternoon and it wasn't so bad! I think the kids are really getting used to me being in there and are really starting to treat me like a real classroom teacher! (eek!!) I really have nothing but high praises for my experience so far and I look forward to what the rest of the semester has to offer!

Thanks for reading!!!

Until next time,

Today was an interesting day! Day 9

Today I decided to dress in MTSU spirit for the first game of the season, even if I couldn't be there in person, I was definitely there in spirit! I wore a royal blue and white cotton dress with a cool exposed zipper embellishment on the front. This was a great find at Ross for about $14. I paired it with a black shrug from Old Navy and t strap sandals from Gap. I accessorized with a black leather bangle that my mom has had since 1985. I think the outfit was a hit!
Now, on to my day! My cooperating teacher got observed by the principal today so we were already nervous about that. Around 9:30 this morning we had a little boy who had given us trouble all morning and was already on black cloud ( for those of you who don't speak elementary education terms or can't use a little deductive reasoning....black cloud is the worst level of disciplinary action on our classroom chart before action is taken from the principal) cuss at another child. It was very interesting to work through considering these children are 6. We got through it and moved on with our day! The observation went smoothly even though the principal observed the dreaded subtraction! My teacher had really fun and engaging activities and the children were on good behavior! Good afternoon for all!
Today was definitely a learning experience in every possible way!
Until next time readers...

Day 7 and 8....Teaching subtraction is for the birds...

I am so sorry I forgot to post last night! I was so tired that I just crashed by the end of the day! I did take a picture though, so I am including two days pictures in one post! Yesterday I wore a dress that is in my two favorite colors! This purple and yellow print knee length cotton/jersey blend dress I found at the Gap Outlet is really pretty and comfortable! I paired it with a black shrug sweater from Old Navy because the dress is spaghetti straps and that is not allowed at school, and then I wore black t-strap sandals, also from Gap.

My day was relatively uneventful. I am helping my cooperating teacher prepare for her big evaluation on Thursday before I take over, so we are all kind of stressing about that because we want to make a good impression for the principal!

Today, I wore a really fun white and blue print maxi dress from Target, white sandals, and a denim jacket. It was really comfortable all day long until we went outside! I thought I was going to die! This dress/jacket combination turned into a vacuum trapping all heat while we were outside. Poor clothing choice today, but at least I looked cute! ;)

I don't know how many of you have attempted to introduce subtraction to 1st graders, but let me tell you, it is HARD work! They were not understanding that you take things away and I think the whole class, myself included, was getting very frustrated. We didn't even make it to Math centers today because we were working too hard on our whole group lessons! I am going to have gray hair before they finally master subtraction! I am sure I will post more about my adventures in subtraction.

That's all for today! Thanks for reading!

Until next time readers,

:)

Day 6 was relatively uneventful

I love the dress I wore to school today! I think it looks like the lining of a pool which makes me think of summer, and I get lots of compliments on it every time I wear it so that's always a plus! ;) I also got it at the Gap outlet which just helps sweeten the deal! Who doesn't love outlets?! I paired it with my favorite pair of bronze sandals.

The only eventful thing that really happened today was that we had an unannounced fire drill. Our class was so well behaved that we got special recognition on the "all clear "announcement. I was very proud!
Oh, I also found out every person I eat lunch with owns a police scanner,so we spent the better part of our lunch break spreading the town gossip! ;)

That's all for today! Thanks for reading!

Day 5- I SURVIVED MY FIRST WEEK!

It's official folks...Week one is over! I am so sorry for not posting my outfit yesterday, but I did take a picture of it so I have included it today! Yesterday was "Casual Friday". I wasn't really sure how casual people went so I decided to go with a cotton/jersey blend black dress, a teal crop sweater, and one of my favorite necklaces that I picked up from a local artist. I paired all of this with some T strap black sandals and I think it was a big hit. Now I know, though, that I am safe to be a lot more casual than I was yesterday. I had a great first week and I am looking forward to what the next 7 have to offer! I was exhausted yesterday!    I didn't do anything fun last night. I came home and had spaghetti with my parents and then crashed at about 9 pm after only reading two more pages in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Yes, I am currently rereading the HP series, nerd status through the roof...). I did just beat my sister and her boyfriend at a charity cornhole tournament so I don't think this weekend will be a total loss! Now, I plan to enjoy the rest of my weekend and I try to relax a little! Until next time readers!

Day 4- tried the school lunch...

I really love the dress I wore to school today. My sister claims it looks like a "grandma dress", but what does she know? This dress is a belted knee length royal blue dress with a sheer blue with white polka dot overlay with three quarter sleeves. I paired it with white sandals and I think it was a hit because people commented on it all day!
I had a really good day today! Relatively uneventful. I worked with small groups and went and sharpened what felt like a million pencils just so the children would stop asking! I also got my first school lunch as an adult, and let me just say, I was really pleased! For $3.25, I ate a huge slice of pizza, a big salad, green beans, an apple, and tea! I think my mom was the most impressed (mostly because she gave me the lunch money)  and told me I can eat school lunch whenever I want! Another great day!
Until next time readers,
:)

A loose tooth, a missing student, and a maxi dress (Day 3)

Today was another interesting day! I decided to wear a cotton floral print dress (which I found in Old Navy's clearance section, btw) paired with a light brown shrug, bronze sandals, and a fun brown necklace from Anthropology. It was a really comfortable outfit and I can see myself wearing this all throughout the year. Also, I promise my hair looked better than this during the day! Once I left school I didn't stop running around until about 7 so a ponytail seemed like a very suitable hairstyle!!

Anyways...onto the day!
The day started at about 8:05 with a little boy that we had already counted absent. Ms. Pearson likes to do a lot of work from the carpet so the entire class was in the front of the room. The child peeped in the classroom and didn't see anyone, so he proceeds to have a meltdown in the middle of the hallway. He is escorted in by another teacher shortly after and all was right with the world again!

The best part of my day though, came after lunch when a sweet little boy mentioned to me that he had a loose tooth. I told him to leave it alone for a little while and see what happened. He wiggles it around for another hour or so then comes to me begging for it to be pulled, and guess what I did?! I pulled it! I felt like Teacher of the Year!

All in all, it was a fantastic day!
Until next time readers,
:)

Day 2: The day with all of the questions

Ok, first off let's get to today's outfit. I wore a purple knee length dress with a denim jacket, black t strap sandals, and this awesome purple necklace my dear friend,Jerod, brought me back from his stay in Ecuador. I love this dress because it is super comfy and definitely school appropriate( I even ended up sitting on the floor with some students this morning). Not to mention that I bought it brand new from the lost luggage store for something ridiculous like $4. I always love a bargain!  I also found out yesterday that anything I wear must touch some part of my knee, so I might have to rethink some of my school outfits, but that's ok! I also placed my order for my new FES Tshirt so I am excited about that because every Thursday is spirit day! Today was a busy day! The students had LOTS of questions today! I got very frustrated reminding students to write on the left and top side of their paper. Then I had to remind myself that they're only 6 and that made my day go a lot more smoothly! Until next time readers!

I survived my first day!!

Day 1- complete!

Today was an AWESOME day! I spent the whole day with my cooperating teacher and her first grade class, and let me just say...I am EXHAUSTED. The nude flats were definitely a poor choice and I have been whining like a baby (on the inside) since about 3:30 this afternoon. My cooperating teacher is super nice and the children already seem to be adjusting to the extra person in the classroom! I am quickly becoming well acquainted with the school and I am turning in to a Flintville Bobcat one day at a time! I even put my order in for a T-shirt this morning. All in all, it was a fantastic day and I look forward to the other 39 ahead of me.
Until next time readers!

Does this outfit make me look teacher-y?

Well folks, today's the day!! I begin my student teaching at Flintville Elementary today! Today's outfit is one of my favorite dresses that I got from Ross. I love Ross because I am all about a deal! I have paired this color block dress with some nude  flats. I am excited for my first day!! :)

The Trendy Teacher Challenge

Hello all! Today is supposed to be the day that I find out where I will be placed for student teaching! Sadly, I got a blank email yesterday (grrrr.....) which makes me very upset and anxious as I have been patiently waiting on my placements since January 30! I will post soon where I am placed! Anyways,  on to the reason I am starting this blog! In my move home, I have discovered once again the ridiculous amount of clothing that I own. I got to thinking on my drive home yesterday that I could go a LONG time without wearing the same outfit twice. So, I am challenging myself. I will make as many outfits as I can without repeating. I will do my best to post my outfit each day on here. Keep in mind, I will obviously wear things like dress pants, jackets, shoes and accessories with various outfits, but the overall outfit will be different each day. I am looking forward to this challenge because I will get to be creative and wear all of the clothes that I (and my parents) have spent hard-earned money on! I have also been challenged by my dear friend Roger to give away all of the items that I have not worn by the time I graduate on December 15th! So tune in on August 20th because I will be posting my first day of student teaching outfit!! Until next time...
:)
